High-voltage automatic reactive power compensator adopts special contactors which is parallel connection in power system for throwing in and cutting off capacitor, contactors are used to increase and improve power factor of grid, to reduce line consumption, to improve system voltage quality and to increase capacity of power distribution system equipment.
High voltage automatic reactive power compensator consists of control unit panel and some compensation unit panel. Control unit panel consists of main switch (SF6 load switch), current transformer, controller and relevant main circuit loop and control circuit loop. Each compensator equips one control unit panel, the control unit panel is used to measure, display, and control each compensation unit panel. The compensation unit panel consists of especial vacuum contactors which is used to throw in and cut off , capacitors, reactor, arrester, ground switch, current transformer and discharging winding, etc. There are independent protection and manual operation function. There are five standard configuration units which are divided into 300kvar, 600kvar, 900Kvar, 1200kvar, 1500 kvar, we can meet with customers different requirement according to different compensator with different capacity and accuracy.

1  Characteristics

1.1 Toy bricks-type structure, We can use bus nip to connect to every unit, it is very easy to install and extend.
1.2 The compensator tracks system voltage and reactive power via its controller to carry out automatic capacitor group throwing in and cutting off . There are many protection functions, e.g., over voltage protection, under voltage protection, trip failure protection, etc.
1.3 Microcomputer protection unit, it carries out over current protection, short circuit protection and zero sequence protection functions. It switches off the capacitor group and closedown when system faults, the rest capacitor groups run normally.
The system will terminate operation when power is off, it will run automatically after power is on
1.4 There are many protection functions, e.g., high (over) voltage, low (under) voltage, PT wires disconnect, mechanical fault, main transformer over current, etc.
The compensator equips RS-485 or RS-232 with high-speed communication port, it is running with automatic control system of power distribution station to carry out four-remote-control function.
1.5 The compensator adopts special vacuum switch for module-type capacitor, five sets can be put in a normal switch panel.
1.6 We can divide into several groups flexibly according to general compensation capacity, five groups which is its maximum number can be divided with same capacity. They are switched on or switched off in closed loop automatically, first switched on, first switched off. To make sure each capacitor group is used in equal time. A delay of throwing in and cutting off could be set manual, and a capacitor group cannot be switched on within discharging time. (that means delay should be longer than discharging time)

3  System composing

High-voltage automatic reactive power compensator consists of one set incoming line with control unit and multiple sets compensation throwing in and cutting off units .
High-voltage incoming line with control unit panel consists of panel, main switch (SF6 load switch), high-voltage controller and other secondary circuit parts. Main switch is installed in a single bus chamber which stays at top of panel. High-voltage controller and other secondary circuit parts are installed in control chamber in the middle of panel. Each compensator equips a high-voltage control unit, the control unit is used to measure, display, and control each compensation unit to throw in and cut off .
High-voltage compensation throwing in and cutting off Unit consists of panel, arrester, permanent magnet organ vacuum breaker (vacuum throwing in and cutting off switch), current transformer, High-voltage capacitor, reactor, special discharging coil for capacitor. There are independent protection and manual functions, There are five standard configuration units which are divided into 300kvar, 600kvar, 900Kvar, 1200kvar, 1500 kvar, we can meet with customers different requirement according to different compensator with different capacity and accuracy.
